SYNOPSIS: A year in the lives of four African American women living in Scottsdale Arizona as they pursue relationships with men.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: A glimpse into the lives of affluent women and their expectations of love and romance.
PROS AND CONS: A good film, mainly because it is done so well. This film shows that Forrest Whittaker is a good director and knows how to tell a story. He is able to take a rather mundane story-line and make it engaging and interesting to watch.
Sadly, this film also shows just how much talent Whitney Houston had in her prime, before the drug abuse and bad decisions that eventually sapped and ended her life.
That said, this film is a fantasy, much like the lives of the women on ‘Sex and the City’. Affluent African Americans portrayed in this film are rare as hens teeth in Scottsdale Arizona. Also rather interesting is the degree that sexual intercourse and infidelity play a role in the lives of the characters.
This film is a part of my LaserDisc Collection.
