SYNOPSIS: The life and major film roles of Steve McQueen are recounted by his friends and family.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: What is cool and what is being true to your ideals and goals. Some folks are just more intense than others.
PROS AND CONS: As documentaries go, a good film. This is a homage to McQueen and not a critical look at the man. There are no interviews stating how unruly or obnoxious he was. Only interviews of admiration and reminiscing.
The portrait that is finally painted of McQueen was a driven man that was somewhat fearless regarding his own life and the lives of others. He lived life full tilt and did not know any other way. But all the while, displaying an outward persona of cool and hip.
What I walked away with, was that every man is Steve McQueen to a certain extent. But we all don’t have the ultra cook exterior.
