DATE REVIEWED: 04/06/2016
FORMAT: Laserdisc
TIME RIDDEN / FILM LENGTH: 1 hour 27 minutes
DISTANCE RIDDEN WHILE VIEWING: 20.6 miles
TOTAL CINEMA MILES LOGGED: 4575.4 miles
SYNOPSIS: Three agents for the British government attempt to uncover a German spy in World War I Switzerland.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: Conscious over country in time of war. How our sense of duty can be compromised by the things we learn along the way.
PROS AND CONS: A great film if you want to study Hitchcock and his style. Not a great film if you want stellar acting and interesting plot.
This film suffers a bit from the span of time since it was created. The world has changed and the sense of duty and nationalism no longer exists in the world, much less the strict moral codes of the day which almost seem a bit outlandish by today’s standards.
The plot becomes somewhat confusing as the film progresses when both of the agents sent to find the traitor start to question their values and the concept of taking another human life.
This film is a part of my LaserDisc Collection.
