SYNOPSIS: A young wizard discovers the dark past of the secret society at his school for magic.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: Morality tale of family, friendship and how evil doers always meet an untimely end.
PROS AND CONS: I am not a huge fan of this franchise. It is a good film and very well made, but it is a targeted media franchise and you can tell that they are making money hand over fist with it.
What stands out more about this film than anything else is the depth of detail that the creators have taken to produce this alternate reality of magical people and beasts. It is like “Star Wars” for the next generation, but instead of lightsabers and starfighters, you have wands and unicorns.
I know that a lot of Evangelicals and Alt-Right individuals don’t like this franchise because of its focus on witchcraft and demonology. So I found the Christmas scene in the film somewhat humorous. Did anyone ever buy Lord Voldemort a Christmas present?

SYNOPSIS: A band of condemned G.I. in World War II are offered a pardon if they complete a secret mission.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: The height of the Bromance movement in American Cinema. “Man’s World” come to live in a 2 hour wide screen spectacular.
PROS AND CONS: This is a well known film and the cast of actors is stellar. It is lavish and well shot with a quick moving plot and lots of character development.
This type of film was a standard prior to the individualist movement of the 70s and 80s, when Hollywood gave lavish production to tales of proper moral behavior.
In this case it is how a diverse group of savage individuals come together as a team to conquer a problem. Two interesting things stood out in this film having seen it for the first time in a decade.
The ending scene where the German Generals are killed is awfully reminiscent of Auschwitz. Also, in our politically correct times, this movie harkens back to the male mindset best outlined visually in my Pinterest Board called “Nazi’s, Whips and Women”. Male fantasy indeed.
