CINEMA CYCLE
(Cardio Workout And Reviewing Movies At The Same Time)
DATE REVIEWED: 11/14/2016
TITLE: Woman of the Year
FORMAT: Laserdisc
TIME RIDDEN / FILM LENGTH: 1 hour 54 minutes
DISTANCE RIDDEN WHILE VIEWING: 28.8 miles
TOTAL CINEMA MILES LOGGED: 5494.5 miles
SYNOPSIS: Two competing newspaper columnists fall in love and out of love.
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: In the old days, the happy ending occurs when the woman submits.
PROS AND CONS: A good film and the acting is superb. They talk about the chemistry that Tracy and Hepburn had and it is evident in this film.
However, this is a 1940s fantasy film. I don’t think that the newspaper business was ever really like this and Hepburn’s character is over the top. Any woman that knows heads of state and can speak five different languages is a bit on the rare side.
Another fun observation is the view of 1940s modernity, in the sets and location shooting that gives the viewer a glimpse of just how much times have changed, but in style and mindset.
This film is a part of my LaserDisc Collection.
