CINEMA CYCLE
(Cardio Workout And Reviewing Movies At The Same Time)
DATE REVIEWED: 09/02/2016
TITLE: Dirty, Rotten, Scoundrels
FORMAT: Laserdisc
TIME RIDDEN / FILM LENGTH: 1 hour 49 minutes
DISTANCE RIDDEN WHILE VIEWING: 26.3 miles
TOTAL CINEMA MILES LOGGED: 5076.6 miles
SYNOPSIS: Two con-men compete to win the affection / wealth of a young woman on the French Riviera
CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER: Morality tale of coming to terms with one's conscious while duping susceptible young women, with comedic farce thrown in.
PROS AND CONS: Not a bad film and funny at times. The film appears to be Steve Martin’s coming out picture, showing his acting ability next to veteran thespian, Michael Caine.
Some of the comedy routines performed by Martin a little long and drawn out. They are funny, but in somewhat of a painful way. Caine is just rock solid as ever as the con-man / statesman and benefactor of the small French town.
The plot twist at the end wasn’t to hard to see coming. I figured it out about halfway through the film. A light hearted romp that is fun to watch but not what I would call great cinema.
