CONCEPT IN RELATION TO THE VIEWER:  The mysteries and conspiracies that surround us all.  When dealing with villains, it is best to have snappy dialogue that has lots of sexual innuendo with your smoking hot side kick.

PROS AND CONS:  The Avengers are what they are.  British television from the 1960s with all the accompanying mod and hip styles that were popular at the time.  While I loved Honor Blackman as Catherine Gale, Diana Rigg took the show to a whole different level.

What makes the series so interesting is the exact nature of the relationship between Steed and his current partner.  Are they lovers?, co-workers?, neighbors?  This question is never answered in any of the episodes, but it is ‘assumed’ that they are government agents and ‘assumed’ that their relationship is more than just professional.

So once a week the viewer was thrown into some bizarre plot line (and some were pretty bizarre) with these two quick witted and stylish Brits who inevitably solve the crime because, let's face it, in 1960s Europe all the criminal masterminds were not that bright.
